Wearing Masks

About a year ago I had the idea to create a website or blog of sorts, but I couldn’t quite figure out the purpose that would take. Throughout much journaling and prayer God has slowly revealed to me bits and pieces which have recently come together to make some sense. This is not another mom blog. While I am a mother, and will share some stuff from motherhood, that is not the focus – nor purpose of this site.

For many years I have struggled with going to church and watching everyone wear what I like to call their ‘church face’. Whether in small group/Sunday School or in big church, we always are presenting ourselves in our Sunday best. And I think, “Am I the only one with issues?”

When we expose ourselves are share our struggles with others, it gives hope. It gives someone else the opportunity to share with us and give us hope. It gives us the opportunity to grow. It gives outsiders the others the opportunity to see that we are not perfect and that we must rely on God. We are not able. Only God is.

We all either have secrets from our past, or struggles in our present. Why is it so important that we hold them so close? Are we that concerned about what others will think of us? I used to worry about my loyalty to others, my loyalty to ‘how I grew up’, my loyalty to this person or that. Where does my loyalty lie? With God and God alone.

Today in life I wait for Him to nudge me for direction.  I don’t make plans for ‘my life’ and then ask Him to bless them. I ask Him for my plan and then follow them. Some things have been quite uncomfortable. Some plans have required me to break my loyalty to ‘how I grew up’. Some plans have required me to be emotionally vulnerable.

If you follow my postings here you will learn more about my story. You will hear more about the specific times God has asked me to move out of my comfort zone and into His plans. God has been asking that of people since the very beginning.

I think we would have A LOT to talk about…”When we expose ourselves are share our struggles with others, it gives hope. It gives someone else the opportunity to share with us and give us hope.
